Superintendent Exploration

For over 60 years Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd (Hancock) has been engaged in the exploration and development of mineral resources in Western Australia, with current tenements across the Pilbara and Yilgarn.

These tenements include advanced projects such as Mulga Downs, Ridley and East Angelas iron ore projects, and an expanding portfolio of non-ferrous exploration and resource definition.

The Resource Development Group (RDG) is expanding in order to support and inform potential future studies and development.  These projects are considered to be strategically important opportunities, with their mineral resources having the potential to extend the useable life of existing infrastructure and assets, provide greater blending and operational flexibilities across the company’s suite of iron ore operations and options, and enhance the business cases for development of other commodity projects.

In order to support our exploration programmes, the company is now looking to recruit several Superintendent’s Exploration. FIFO out of Perth on a 15:13 roster.

Key responsibilities:

  • Onsite statutory supervisor, provision of field safety leadership, ensure adequate risk management is in place for operational activities
  • Oversee timely event management compliance including investigations, root cause analysis and meaningful corrective actions
  • Focus on mitigating Principal Hazard exposure and ensure compliance to verification processes
  • Collaborate with safety personnel to ensure compliance to Mine Safety Management System
  • Provide input into the ongoing development of exploration programs, budgets and the resources of these works
  • Program effectiveness review and technical guidance to the geology and field teams
  • Monitoring of program performance and periodical reporting to senior management
  • Lead consultative and collaborative approach to H&S
  • Provide training to meet role compliance and technical development
  • All aspects of onsite project delivery: camp management, exploration drilling and field work campaigns
  • Manage and support the direct reports on-site including setting priorities and schedules, and appropriately performance managing personnel
  • Ensuring activities are carried out with minimal disturbance to the environment and heritage sites

 

To be successful in this role you will have the following career experience:

  • Extensive exploration experience in field operations, multi-commodity experience preferred
  • Geological or suitable systems knowledge to monitor planning, data collection and execution standards
  • Experience as a team leader in a geological or exploration group
  • Safety systems knowledge including risk assessments, investigation lead and auditing, development of safety management documents

Specific role requirements include:

  • Tertiary qualification or suitable relevant industry experience
  • Statutory Supervisor Appointment or ability to obtain
  • Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to obtain
